Royal Garden Party at the Palace

Queens Royal Garden Party, Palace of Holyroodhouse 2017

Each year, Queen Elizabeth spends a week visiting various regions in Scotland, meeting Scots from all walks of life and hosting thousands at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in recognition of their good work. Known in Scotland as 'Royal Week', and to others as 'Holyrood Week', these visits celebrate Scottish culture, achievement and community.

Kester and I were delighted to have been invited to the party by The Lord Chamberlain & The Lord-Lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran John Duncan in recognition of all the cervical cancer ( Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust) and autism voluntary work I've done for 16 years now.

We spent an (albeit rather cold, wet & windy) but relaxed afternoon along with the Queen, Prince Philip, Duke of York and Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon in the beautiful grounds of the Palace. The Party was accompanied by music from regimental bands and The Royal Scottish Pipers Society

We finished our tea, then decided to have a walk around the massive gardens, listened to the military bands for a while then made our way home but not before making a pit stop at one of my favourite restaurants near Edinburgh Castle called wagamama.
