I have recently undergone surgery to repair an Umbilical Hernia, something was protruding in my belly button. I had my operation in Salford Royal Hospital.
I have a pre-existing condition of arrested hydrocephalus (water on the brain) so there was a lot of special things put into place for my stay in hospital.A special bed was provided near to the toilets so I would not have to walk so far.
Most people having the same operation were allowed to go home on the same day but I was in hospital for about 4 days to make sure there was no reaction to the general anesthetic. Everyone was so helpful it really put my mind at ease.
When I was discharged I had carers coming twice a day in the morning to help me shower and get dressed and in the evening to see that I got into bed okay. They came for about two weeks, but now I am able to cope on my own.
Thanks to all who supported during this period.
