This young person hopes to go to university and transition but is aware of cuts to fundings of multiple services (including NHS, libraries etc). Fears are focused around increasing polarisation, and the impact this has on people's desire and ability to engage in discussion, be curious about learning and finding information. To live a better life would like to see improved access to information. They are involved in a community group and enjoy reading so have ways to access change and impact decision making themselves.

This story was gathered by a youth advocate from the Equality Trust as part of a project called Reconstructing the Social Contract. 10 young people trained as community reporters and spoke to people aged between 16 and 25 in the United Kingdom to explore what impacts young people's life chances and their relationship with the state.
