Oscar hopes to get a fulfilling career and a house, to have a job that is enjoyable and pays and for others to have the same. Concerned about the cost of living crisis and the government saying they'd bring in mandatory conscription. Experienced high levels of stress 'head spinning' and inability to sleep some nights due to worrying about finding a place to live. Lack of time/ resources for breaks and holidays, lots of people overworking as a result. Issues with living outside cities: public transport never on time, only once an hour, fewer opportunities to work, diminishing identity of small towns, fewer community events, people don't talk to each other. Likes to support local businesses e.g. grocers, butchers. Government focused on just building lots of houses (blocks etc) and nothing else.

This story was gathered by a youth advocate from the Equality Trust as part of a project called Reconstructing the Social Contract. 10 young people trained as community reporters and spoke to people aged between 16 and 25 in the United Kingdom to explore what impacts young people's life chances and their relationship with the state.
