What happens when you take an inner city community with lots of green space and a smattering of social problems and inject some funding and visionary community leaders? Well, for one community in Hulme the answer was a year long project to create a community garden and produce a fantastic free Toolkit as a learning resource for other communities. There is so much to be learnt from this content – about what it means to be part of a community, about providing a central focus for a community to gather itself around with purpose and shared intent and, not least, how it doesn’t actually rain every day in Manchester. Look at these videos – the sun is shining and food is planted. Wonderful! If you are interested in setting up your own community garden then you can access the full Toolkit here: http://greenzonetoolkit.wordpress.com/
