In this video Tuuli describes the history of the Kainuu region which is located between eastern and western cultures. She tells that thousands of refugees came over the Russian boarder in 1923 and 1944 when the boarder was closed over 450 000 people were evacuated. Evacuated people were settled in the Kainuu region as well in other parts of Finland. Today we are in a similar situation with immigrants, refugees and asulym seekers. She says we should find a way to integrate the newcomers of today as it was successfully done also in the history.
