~~World Book Day – March 6 th
Here, In the United Kingdom, World book day is held on the first Thursday in March, Which this year falls on March 6th . In the rest of the world it is held on March 23rd , but here it clashes with St Georges day. It was introduced by UNESCO in 1995 and the date was chosen as it was the anniversary of the death of author, Miquel De Cervantes, a Spanish Author poet and playwright who wrote Don Quixote. Coincidentally it’s also the anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare. On this day all things to do with books are celebrated , festivals and events are held . I love reading and have done it all my life, my first book that I can remember owning was a Children's Bible that my Grandmother bought me when I was about six . I also loved Enid Blyton books like The Famous Five and The Secret Seven and I enjoyed annuals like 2000 AD and the Beano .
I like reading the biographies of my favourite musicians like Adam Ant, Kate Bush and the Doors .I don’t really read fiction now but I am reading a lot, as I am doing a degree with the Open University in Philosophy and Psychology. The books are interesting and I am learning a lot, sometimes it can get a bit heavy but it’s been a really good experience so far .
