A commemorative concert to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One, organised by Barrmill Jolly Beggars’ Burns Club was held at St Columba’s Church of Kilbirnie

It was a thoroughly enjoyable event featuring songs performed by the North Ayrshire Council Workforce Choir, music played by Irvine and Dreghorn Band, piper Paul Sproat and organist Martin McLaughlin, while Councillor Donald L Reid was the event MC for the evening.

Poems were read by members of Barrmill Jolly Beggars Burns Club, and a few of us had the honour of reading out the names of the 159 Kilbirnie men who lost their lives in the conflict. It was really quite moving and you could hear a pin drop in the church. I'd like to thank Donald for inviting me to participate in uniform, well done to everyone involved in making it the success it truly was.

Ayrshire Film Company were in attendance recording the event on behalf of North Ayrshire Council. A legacy film of all the 100th anniversary events across North Ayrshire will be produced to make this unique footage. https://youtu.be/FiKyob7hoto
