Cervical Cancer activist Suzanne Fernando was recently invited back to The Scottish Parliament and this time helped host a drop-in event for MSPs to tell them about cervical cancer and its impact, and briefed them on what more needs to be done to increase cervical screening uptake (smear tests) in Scotland.

Suzanne has supported Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust for almost 16 years, its the only UK charity dedicated to supporting women affected by cervical cancer or cervical abnormalities.

The event was called Eradicating cervical cancer in Scotland: drop-in event and lunch', was sponsored by Clare Haughey MSP, along with the Chief Executive Robert Music Suzanne welcomed many MSP's who came along to the event including our own local MSP Kenneth Gibson, Minister for Public Health and Sport Aileen Campbell, Maurice Cory, Monica Lennon, Colin Smyth and the Presiding officer Ken Macintosh.

Suzanne said, "Our long term vision is for cervical cancer to be eradicated and until then that no woman that is diagnosed goes without the support she needs.  The event was a huge success and we were delighted with the turn out on the day."
