On my way to work the other day on the number 8 bus I was sad to see one of the places that was important in my teenage years being demolished . The Salford Housing building at the top of Langworthy Road is in the process of demolition right now and theres not much left of it now.

From the years of 11- 16 I would stand in the doorway of the housing with my friends ,hanging about . Its the place where I met girlfriends ,got chased by local hoodlums and had a lot of good laughs. We were all into Ska Music and used to love impersonating the Madness nutty walk along the housing path to entertain people passing on the buses .My friend graffitied his name in the doorway of the building by climbing one of the pillars .It was so high up that it remained there 30 years later ,until the demolition. A big highlight I remember was a lad who had a mask dressing up as an old man and then we would stage a pretend mugging at the bus stop, to get a chase off the ladys who had just been to the Ambassador Bingo Hall. The Ambassador was demolished about ten years ago which was a total travesty .I'd imagine the housing is now  gonna follow the trend and become the land will become a block of flats.

Does anyone else out there remember hanging out on the housing or anywhere else in Salford ? Why not write a blog post
