Salford Dadz is a community group that constituted in April 2015. It formed as a result of action research into the issues affecting the wellbeing of fathers in Little Hulton in Salford. Having discovered the problems, the fathers set out to share local solutions. One of these was to bring dads and children together at a Saturday Club, where they could bond with their children by spending time alone with them and also it was an opportunity for fathers to share their worries. When men have problems they tend to bottle things up and isolate themselves and Saturday Club is a place where dads find they are not alone with their problems. Having the opportunity to talk in a non-stigmatising, male environment helps them to feel better and accept the help of another father acting just as a mate.
