It's been a busy past few months for Salford Community Reporters so I thought I would write a quick note to say what we are up to at the moment.

SCR ran two successful training courses, one in how to make a film in three days and the other in photography, ran by Howard Barlow. And following those courses we have two new groups set up:

SCR Film Division

A group of filmmakers who meet up once a fortnight on a Thursday afternoon to plan and create their very own films. The first fruit from this group will be uploaded soon. The group have big plans to move into creating dramas as well as documentaries. If you are interested in getting involved then please email matt@communityreporter.co.uk

SCR Photography Group

Brand new to Salford Community Reporters is a photography club which has formed following on from the course which professional photographer Howard Barlow ran. The group already have their first exhibition on at St Sebastians Community Centre and are looking to exhibit more of their work both online and in the community. This group has a great mix of people from all over the community and we are very excited about seeing what photos they publish!

That's not all that we have going on...

Black and Yellow Radio

A few years back, we did some work with students at Albion Academy as they created their very own radio station; Black and Gold Radio. Well now they are back with a slightly new name (to go with a song all the students knew!) and they have already put together 3 programmes that have been broadcast across all of Albion Academy! We will be working with their students on a regular basis to create more shows that will go out and who knows, we may end up with a Salford Community Reporters Radio Show!

Essence

Our Summer edition of Essence Newsletter has gone down a storm, we are always looking for people to find stories and do some community reporting for the newsletter. So if you fancy having a go at writing an article about what is going on in Charlestown and Lower Kersal (which reaches over 4000 people!) then please get in touch; matt@communityreporter.co.uk

Or you could always....

Drop In

We are still running our Drop Ins every Tuesday 10-1pm. These are a chance to just pop in, have a cup of tea and a coffee, and find out more about what we do, learn some of the basics of community reporting, and see what activities and events we have going on which you can get involved with! Why not come along? We are at the Innovation Forum on Frederick Road (the big pink building!) in the Social Media Centre!

So as you can see, there's lots of things going on, it's all really exciting at Salford Community Reporters and we are always in the need for people interested in Community Reporting, whether you're a filmmaker, photographer, writer, radio presenter, there are plenty of ways you can get involved.

Salford Community Reporters? It's growing...
