February 17 th is World Random Act Of Kindness Day
Random Acts of Kindness Day is celebrated on February 17 th, around the world by localities and organisations , in order to encourage acts of kindness. It originated in New Zealand in 2005. It’s a day when the entire country is challenged to do something kind to a stranger or a friend for no reason at all.
It could be cooking a meal, or walking someone’s dog , or even just buying someone a coffee, anything as long as its kind.
We want to hear your stories either about when someone has been kind to you, or your stories about what you do when you want to be kind to someone . Have you already got something planned for this day? If so let us know about it.
I left my new bag on the bus a while back and I have also lost a wallet recently. These days you often hear that people are dishonest and don’t look out for their neighbour. I was pleased to find when I rang up the bus company that someone had handed my bag back in and it was at the depot . There were mainly books in it but someone was kind enough to hand it in to the driver. I was also chuffed when I received a phone call saying that someone had found my wallet near the block of flats where I live. He took the time to look my address up online and posted it through my letterbox , everything was intact, even the money so it’s not such a bad world after all. We’d love to hear any of your experiences like this or any plans you have for random act of kindness day, Please tag your posts RAOKD Kindness and upload them to the community reporter.co.uk site by February 16 th 2013 please.
