Several hundred bike riders set off from Salford Quay's this morning 24th May riding the 40 odd miles to Liverpool in aid of the NSPCC.

The weather was against the riders, it was cold and rainy, however not many appeared to be put off by this situation.

Many riders were turning up on the day and registering. There were riders of all sizes and shapes doing their bit for the charity.

I saw a couple of youngsters who looked to be riding alongside their parents.

The first wave of riders set off bang on 8.00 am and the rest were setting off as they finished registering.

As I was leaving The Quays and traveling up Trafford Rd in Salford I saw several more cyclists on their way to the start.

Good luck to all concerned and I hope this event raises lots of money for the NSPCC.
