I did not fully realise how lonely my mum was till 2013. She had been lonely for a while and threatened all sort of things. But we never took it seriously. Until one day we decided to take he at her word and called out the doctor. She was brilliant and got my mum all sort of support including a psychiatrist and community nurses. But she was still lonely. Me and my brothers were away or busy for xmas and we decided that it was best for mum to go into residential care. She decided that she was not going to go home. Fortunately she was not successful and said it was an accident. She ended up in a hospital  and then eventually back at the residential home. The very place she did not want to be. We have sold the house so there is no going back. Is she still lonely. Almost certainly. But at least we have peace of mind. She has decided not to make friends as they die. So she is still lonely. We visit and take her out. It helps for a while and it cheers her up. But in the end even though there are people around she is still  lonely.
