Jade talks very powerfully about her experiences of receiving care and support, and how much difference it would make to trust people to make decisions about how they live their lives. The fear that comes when decisions are made for her, she isn't communicated with. The lack of clarity and policy relating to direct payments and the value of good advocacy. The amount of fear she has asking for help and how her worst fears came true recently and a social worker changed her support plan without notice or reading her files and the impact of that on her physical health. And the power of sitting and talking human to human about how things feel and what could make a difference. Jade shares the example of a meeting 2 years ago where she felt heard and valued and could talk openly about her experiences without fear of repercussions. The value of being talked to like a human, and decisions being made with her and not for her, and how they are communicated!
