All comprehension and unadulterated attention
Escapes my quest for absolute perfection.
I'm on single digit days, bloody haze, counting the ways,
In which I'm blessed, never distressed, in the face of life's ultimate test.
Neurones disaffected, intercepted, disrespected,
Even I can't see or break free from the mess that's right in front of me.
X-rays, radiation waves, I can't even recall the bricks alongside the praise.
In which everything I knew and positively view,
Has been thrust into devastation's lust, boom or bust,
I've got to survive, this bleed first went live I surmise 25 years ago,
Even I didn't know it existed, twisted and persisted all this time,
Crossing the line, driving me slowly blind
To the shifts of acids and alkalis.
Under the funk of anaesthesia, still no easier
To accept a conflict had been kept
My innocence in suspense, no real sense
Of right and wrong, it's been ever so long
Singing its song of how to be strong
In the throes of adversity, didn't have the courtesy
To ask my permission before it started flirting with me.
So this is my recovery, my journey of self-discovery
To see what lesson I learned, respect I earned
In the face of my familiar world that turned.
It's not that I'm bitter, I'm a straight hitter,
Never in my life have I ever been a quitter.
So you may point and laugh, but incur the wrath
Of a decent guy, doing his best to survive
In the face of anatomical and physiological lies.
Remember this, the feeling of bliss
To return from the clutches of a satanic kiss.
Where there is no reason, whatever the season,
Bodily treason goes forth as it pleases em.
The man inside, no place to hide,
Taken for the wildest ride.
This is the end, my true friend,
Nature fought and lost,
I know the cost of not caring, of conscience blaring,
Death staring, and the guilt it's now wearing.
Goodbye, live or die, but never be afraid to try.
Cos folks, it ain't no joke,
on Providence's rich feast you can almost certainly choke.
Don't forget the realisation, the celebration of a life lived,
Never give in.
And finally acceptance will begin.
