Hearing aids

This is the story of getting hearing aids for the first time at age 57. Been having a problem with noises places for a while so thought I should get tested. So went to Boots and was told I needed them. Bit of a shock and it took me a while to get use to the idea. Am I really that old. In the end I saw it a bit like getting reading glasses. Something that comes to everyone. The system worked well. Had a first test at Boots but to get NHS hearing aids I needed to get a referral letter from my doctor. Getting an appointment at my GP took 2 week and then the referral letter took about a week. I  was referred to a local  spec savers who do NHS hearing aids, was retested and got them straight away. Had them for a week and they seem ok. Must remember to clean them everyday. They say my hearing will improve as a result of wearing them. Not what I thought.  Good news is I can actually hear people in noises places. No more saying "sorry can you say that again" .
