Veterans and serving personnel marched along George Street in honour of those who serve and have served in the military.

Hundreds of servicemen and women past present and future marched through central Edinburgh for the annual Armed Forces Day parade on Saturday. 

Veterans and serving personnel from across the armed forces as well as cadets marched along George Street in honour of those who serve and have served in the military.

The salute was taken by the Lord Provost Of Edinburgh Frank Ross and senior officers including Major General Mike Riddle-Webster, for whom it was his last event in a 36-year military career.

Edinburgh last hosted the national event in 2011 and this year moved its Armed Forces Day celebrations forward a week to avoid clashing with Holyrood Week for Her Majesty The Queen and a special parade to mark the 20th anniversary of the Scottish Parliament.
