Research
shows that women in the UK today, from all walks of life, face their
own set of challenges. Women are still earning less than men and are in
many ways at higher risk of developing mental health problems;

  • Women working in the UK earn on average 23 percent less than men
  • 1.5 million people in the UK have an eating disorder- 90 percent of them female
  • One in Four women living in the UK will experience violence at the hands of a current or former partner.
  • The
NHS reported in 2009 that more than one in five of the adult female
population experiences depression, anxiety or suicidal thoughts
  •  Research
from 2003 shows that eight out of ten doctors said they prescribed more
antidepressants than they should, many to women.

Day of Women recognizes the many pressures and stresses
that women face.

They
believe that every woman deserves the chance to access the coaching,
alternative therapies, meditation and emotional support that there
retreat programmes provide.

No
woman should have to suffer alone; Day of Women is here for you. When
you are ready to emerge from your dark times, they will be there to
provide you with the support you need through their confidence-building, weekend retreats.
