Tuesday 6th March and the morning of day two was spent discussing "what is a story".

What is the main intention of the story? Who is the story about? Where does it happen and When? and probably the most important question Why should my audience care about this? Also the importance of planning and research of stories.

We also discussed the fact not all stories can be planned and researched. Sometimes the best ones come from conversation with friends, family or just strangers that you engage in conversation because "everyone has a story to tell".

To prove this point we were split into teams of three and sent out into Media city to find a story. Who, Why, What, Where and When was up to us but each group had 20 minutes to find one.

So with much trepidation we approached members of the public. Nice people, only too willing to talk to us. Then we approached a man in his mid twenties employed to sweep the concourse area "how long you have you been doing this"? we asked. Turns out he is a singer and only doing it to earn enough money to pay for his demo and backing tapes. Unusually, he is a Swing and Jazz singer, has performed at Ronnie Scotts club in London with Mitch Winehouse (Amys' Dad) and is a friend of Shane Ward from X Factor fame and wants to work at corporate events.

Moral of the story! Until you ask the questions, you will never know the answers!

Lunch time we met up with our Mentors, BBC Journalists who have agreed to help us and be a valuable source of knowledge and information.

After lunch, 5 of us went to the North West Today studio and watched from the gallery as the lunchtime edition was prepared and went to air. After which we where introduced to Roger Johnson the presenter, who took us onto the set and shared some tricks of the trade.

The afternoon was spent with Legal discussions and online Health and Safety training, interesting but no wow factor. Still we'ed had enough excitement for one day!
