The CAA Board Chairperson Engineer Ndawula Mike Edward has said the authority is ready to take its asset and develop it for the benefits of all people.

While at Kasese airfield during a board meeting said they are looking at means of developing the place.

Mike urged management to put an ambitious and realistic plan to ensure the project benefits both community and government.

He stressed that it’s the infrastructure that brings demand before putting the fault on private sectors who delayed the development.

The project that is to cost 57 million dollars is likely to be completed in a period of two years.

Kasese Airport is one of the twelve upcountry airports under the administration of the Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda (CAA) that are authorized to handle cross-border air traffic from member countries of the East African Community, as part of efforts to promote tourism within Eastern Africa.

Leaders and residents of Kasese District on several occasions have requested the government to elevate Kasese airfield to an international airport.

They says if developed the airport will have strategic, economic, political and security importance to the country and the region.

Over 300 owners of houses and plots in Saluti and Kamulikwizi where the Airfield is that were evicted have been claiming that the compensation they received from the Civil Aviation Authority was inadequate.
