I would just like to share a point with you all, my mother recently passed away with what was described as small cell Cancer a very aggressive form of Cancer she had two lots of treatment at the Christie then one day had a coughing fit bringing up blood she was rushed into The Manchester Royal Infirmary where she was put on pain relieving drugs, but sadly passed away later that evening. Now the point I want to share is after finding my mum's diary she had written lots of notes from months and months ago saying been to doctors again with cough, doctor said it could be asma a few months later New inhalers ,cough not getting better, different inhalers, mum says there is something wrong I know there is, doctor sends mum for chest xray results came back all clear. Mum says it must be asma I didn't know it could get this bad a month later small spots of pale blood were found in her phlegm , she was told not to worry and given more meds and inhalers, eventually mum demanded more xrays as she was not happy. The results of this xray sparked more concern so more blood tests and more xrays, then it was the dreaded meeting with the McMillan nurse to break some bad news, your mum has what we call small cell Cancer it's a very aggressive kind of Cancer. First question can it be cured ? No, sorry was the answer. How long has she had it ? Quite a while was the answer. Well why wasn't it picked up on the earlier xrays? Now this is the bit you need to remember, Sometimes the cancer may not show up on the xray if it is hiding behind the heart !!!!!!!!!!!. Poor mum must have suffered all them months thinking that she only had asma, when if we had known and maybe had more xrays and test done at an earlier stage she may still be with us.

SO WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY IS IF YOU HAVE A BAD COUGH FOR MORE THAT A MONTH DON'T JUST THINK ITS ASMA GET IT CHECKED AND DON'T ALWAYS BELIEVE THE XRAY RESULTS DOUBLE CHECK THEM AS WELL. I would not have known all this only for finding my mum's diary.

RIP MUM

Thanks for Reading.
