Chloe is seven and it’s her first visit to the Lowry.  She’s coming with mum, who’s seen lots of productions here, to see Babe, the Sheep Pig.  She’s feeling a bit anxious about going somewhere new so the night before we spend some time looking at photos on Google of the building and the interior.  When we arrive via the Lowry Outlet mall, she recognises the Lowry theatre immediately and runs down the steps excitedly.   She really wants to see the pictures upstairs but the exhibition is closed so I promise we can come back to do that.  She checks out the colourful toilets (which she loves!), buy some treats and spend some time in the shop.  Finally, it’s time to find our seats.  The theatre is small and a bit dark but Chloe is more excited than nervous.  She’s not quite sure what to expect but immediately falls in love with the actors in sheep costumes.  “Mum, they are very silly!” she whispers to me.   The first half flies by but Chloe finds the “wolf” at the end of the first act a bit scary.  She jumps on my knee and returns there for most of the second act.  Chloe really enjoyed learning the sheep’s password and saying it back with the rest of the audience to help Babe at the sheep trial.  We were reciting this in the car on the way home!   Chloe took her programme into school the next day to show her teacher and couldn’t wait to tell her grandma all about it at the weekend.  We both really enjoyed the show, even the slightly scary and a little bit sad parts.
