Our currency: words. The precision of words
Last night I was reading a kids' book on Africa. It was talking about the Gold Coast/Ghana, the gaining of independence. It's struck me for some time, and I'm slightly amazed that the following hasn't been mentioned much and made more of
I'd expect to have heard of it somehow if it had. 'Gaining of independence'.
Countries gain BACK their independence.
It's true I write this in the language of the conquering tribe, where we're all very well trained to think as we're instructed to. (The word 'all' there is extraordinarily inclusive). I would just have expected somebody to make capital here.

Just thought to mention...And I've pointed-up why writers get into more trouble with politicians than of our other artistic bros/sisters
