Members of 1920s and 1930s band, The Palm Court Dance Orchestra, recently celebrated the groups' 21st anniversary with a special party held in Boroughbridge. Band members past and present were there to join in the celebrations. Among these were founder members Derek Sutcliffe and Graham Macpherson, who were chosen to cut the 21st birthday cake which had been made by Carol Allen.
The band was formed in 1991 by Graham and by Derek, who has now retired from playing.  The musicians' aim is to recreate the unique British Dance Band sound of the 20s and 30s, as played by Harry Roy, Henry Hall and others.

It goes without saying that there was some music making during the afternoon, as many of the past and present members had brought along their instruments as well as their families. The weather didn't disappoint either, as it remained hot and sunny all afternoon. Everyone enjoyed browsing through the memorabilia, which included photos and old concert programmes. Here's to the next 21 years!
