As part of their initial training Community Reporters in Wensleydale asked each other "Why do you want to be a Community Reporter?". Here Emily Blackburn tells Samantha Belcherwhat motivated her.

Tales to tell in the Dale

Country girl, Emily Blackburn, has returned home to West Witton to lay the foundations of her writing career. As an English graduate from the University of Hull, Emily has aspirations to work as a writer. She is currently volunteering with the Lower Wensleydale Project to help set up and write content for the project website.

I have joined Emily today at Hawes Library Community Office where she is taking part in Community Reporters Training. She is learning about how best to report on a story and how to get that story seen by local people using the internet and local newsletters.

‘I was pretty scared of using the cameras for interviews but actually they are small and easy to use. I am looking forward to getting my first interview done and posted on our new website for the lower dale’ comments Emily

Look out for Emily and other Community Reporters in the area. They will be reporting on various local events and happenings in the months ahead.

Watch this space for the launch of the Lower Wensleydale website in next few weeks
