We had the most wonderful friend and neighbor Mo Shapiro who unfortunately developed breast cancer,  an operation to remove her breast was thought to be successful but after several months she began suffering back pain and she was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer and given twelve to eighteen months to live.We were devastated by this bad news but Mo was extremely brave and told us she did not do upset. Her attitude was whilst she did not want die some people have to leave the show early and she remained determined to stay positive and enjoy her remaining time.                                                                                                                     Before we came to know Mo she had been a very private person with close family ties, she did not do coffee mornings and did not mix with neighbors , but following a chance meeting with Dorothy agreed to try one of our coffee mornings. She loved it so much and became involved in all the activities we did, her family told us we were very priviledged to have her company. Sadly Mo only survived some three months after diagnosis. She requested no flowers at her funeral and  that any donations be passed on to Barton Ladies in appreciation of the happiness the group had given her albeit short lived. She also requested the song(Wish me luck when you wave me goodbye) be played as she was carried into church this was very fitting of her brave attitude to life.                                                                     Barton Ladies purchased an electronic Bingo machine with money donated and had it inscribed Mo's Balls.                                                                                     Mo's true friendship to the group and her bravery in her struggle for life inspired us to raise money for Christies and so the calendar girls came about.
