While many of you may have heard of the Manchester International Festival maybe not so many have heard of Not Part Of, but it's a great festival for Manchester and many of the events are free to attend. It is really like the fringe festival to Manchester International Festival, and I can tell you from personal experience there are many great up and coming acts involved and wide range of events. Last time I went to a fashion show, to see dramas in pubs, to see loads of great bands and comedians and a picnic in Hulme. It's a great way for a Community Reporter to hone those reporting skills. We're looking for reporters to take photos, make films, collect interviews, write reviews or even put a bit of an internet radio show together.

In 2009 I volunteered with the festival to take photos of the acts and through that time I certainly learnt a lot about photography, met many interesting people and even got some work out of it, so it is well worth using this as an opportunity to use your skills whether you're an old hand at this kind of thing or you've just recently done a Community Reporting course.

The festival runs from June 30th to 18th July
