It,s almost three years since Barton Ladies was formed. What is the secret of it,s success?
Making everyone happy and welcome and the ladies can forget about aches/pains and worries and just have fun,laughter and go away in a happy frame of mind.
You're well into retirement but what drives you to work so hard in a variety of community activities and where do you find the energy to do so?
When i retired we had holidays every three months and eventually we thought, have been there done that seen that let's do something different and put something back into the community. I never in my dreams thought Barton Ladies would be so successful. This drives me on to keep it successful and to get involved in other activities. I have always been a high energy person and by networking with others you become inspired to do more for people, some of whom may not be as fortunate as myself.
You obviously derive great pleasure in all that you do, but is there one thing that stands out?
I love meeting people in Eccles in the week following our coffee morning and we chat about the lovely time they had.
You are always smiling and happy is there anything that annoys you?
Rarely, only if i hear people tittle tattling about others in our group and i have to nip it the bud in the nicest possible way, fortunately this is a rare occasion.
Setting aside the group if you could change one thing,what would it be?
If i could do more to make people happy. If i could give a bit of Barton Ladies to everyone.
Finally what does the future hold for Barton Ladies?
I hope that the new center when it opens will provide better facilities and allow us to remain successful.
