After having treatment for agoraphobia I started to go out which was a big step for me. But a big problem I had was meeting and talking to people, something that I would rather die than do. After talking to my sister I started to walk her dog (Zara), the first time I went to the park with her in the space of one hour I had met six people who all wanted to talk to me about Zara and tell me about their own dogs. The feeling of relief I had at being able to talk to people again was huge. This leads to where I go from here which is volunteering to walk dogs for the local dog shelter. I think I will get a lot out of this such as meeting new people gaining confidence feeling good about myself and getting into a routine - not just sitting around the house feeling useless. I also get to be around a whole lot of dogs which is bliss.
