A Norwich school has secured funding for the next five years after a troubled period of doubt.

Future Education, will stay open as County Council funding is now to be directed towards the West Earlham independent specialist school, in a budgetary shake up.

Speaking on behalf of Norfolk County Council Children’s Services department, Ms. Jennifer Land stated, “We are now able to extend a 5 year contract to Future Education, allowing them to engage with up to 28 key stage 4 pupils at their facility.” She continued, “as the age of school leavers rises to 17 next year, and 18 in 2015, we are keen to explore extra curricular activities and provision which is something which Future provides in a strong and forward looking way.”

The school, set up in 2006, began with just 4 students from the local community and has since educated over 100 children, some who have attained the equivalent to 7 GCSE’s.

Current Head teacher Mr. Dennis Freeman commented, “This is a really positive result. Not just for the school but for young people that we work with.”

CEO of parent company Future Projects Mr. Daniel Childerhouse said, “We are very pleased with the decision and we are now busy putting in to place our new provision and policies.

The news comes as a huge relief, as the future of the school looked bleak following a dynamic change in staffing earlier in the year.
