Lorraine mchugh's inspiring speech at the miners cathedral exhibition
St Augustine' schoolchildren at the last pit in the valley exhibition at st Augustine's church enacting life in the 1950's

An exhibition was held at St Augustine's church also known as the miners cathedral on Saturday 21st September  until 28th September lots of ex Agecroft colliery workers attended, there was a short film  about the workings of a pit and the children of St Augustine's school enacted a play  showing life in the 1950's. there was a collection of memorobilia and a great collection of photographs taken when the pit was being dismantled called Death of a Pit by Lorraine McHugh who flew over from Ireland to attend the exhibition, she gave an inspiring speech and has dedicated her photographs to her uncle Ken Chandler who was an original Bevan Boy and who worked at Agecroft pit, Lorraine came from the whit lane area and some of her photographs are in the archives at Salford museum.
