Stuttering up the league!

Kersal Club Salford otherwise known as the Lower Kersal Social Club's rise in the world of snooker seems to be stuttering after last years dramatic successes.

In the 2014-2015 not only winning promotion from Division 2 they all also went on the win the Gerry Ambrose trophy in the deciding frame on the penultimate pink. A lad from Yorkshire taking the honors on behalf of a Salford team.

This year having been promoted to the top tier of Division 1, they are now in forth place after a great start to the season where at one point the where top of the league standings!

Playing in the Eccles and district league division 1, they play 9 teams 3 times throughout the season. The Season starting in August and is completed in late April.

The Kersal Club on Littleton Road M7 post code, has always been a hot bed of 'baize' talent having 3 ex Salford champions. Baize is the technical term for the green cloth that you have no doubt seen on the TV for events like the Snooker World Championship.

The team has a hard core of around 7 players, only 5 will play on any league match night on a Tuesday. The only change in format is when they play in a 6 man cup tournameent towards the end of the season. The squad in total has 16 players registered, in case of sickness and diarrhoea (joking on the later ailment)

Having been a yoyo team they have over the years been promoted and relegated many times over the years. Having struggled to consolidate whilst in Division 1. Are things about to change, however is the big question?

Currently sitting in forth place, 7 points behind the leaders Barfield A & Winton Social A. They should be safe this year with a massive 22 points away from relegation but & its a big but they are just over half way through the season. Can they maintain the consistency they have shown to date, can the regain the Gerry Ambrose Trophy? Time will tell the tale of the baize at the Kersal Club Salford.

Here is last nights score card unfortunately they lost to top spot Barfield A 2-3. It was touch and go and a couple of the frames the score was so tight it could have been 4-1 to Kersal Club Salford.

What will have happened by April the 5th I wonder..........

You will have to revisit this site for the final standings, what will happen to the team?
