Community reporting has,until around five minutes ago, been an alien term to me. I had created my own interpretation of the term, but have been led to realise that this interpretation was only a small aspect of what it is to be a community reporter.
When entering the student zone, frantically searching for content I began to slowly grasp the notion of how my words on the screen can represent an entire student body. In this, it became less about what I found interesting enough to write a story on but more about discussing events that will directly benefit my fellow students. I would become less of an objective reporter, but more of a mouth piece for whatever it was that MMUC students wanted to discuss.
Community reporting just became a lot less about one voice aiming to create change, or raise awareness, and more about the combination of voices faithfully set forth by yours truly.
