I couldn’t celebrate my 90th birthday the way I wanted but all our neighbours came out at 10am, stood by their garden gates & sang Happy Birthday…..coffee shops, especially M&S, have been much missed. M&S café staff kept in touch to make sure I was well. One of them even delivered cards for my birthday from the rest of the staff.

During Covid I’ve missed teaching my Scottish Dancers every Thursday afternoon(and they have missed him too)..... .....my walking has suffered from not being able to march the 2 miles down the hill to town but I do lift weights most days. Do remember, dear reader, that there are a lot of lonely people out there. people who, like me, may only have one or two conversations a week, some less than that. Yes, social distancing is important, but you would be surprised what a sunny hello from 2 meters away or over the garden wall can do , a five minute chat can lift someone’s day , brighten outlook , you might make a friend , you may even save a life. We might all be in masks right now , but we are still smiling people behind them."
