Stanley shopkeepers in the community are proactive in dealing with antisocial behavior after many have lost confidence in local authorities and police.

Leanne, 32 from Trinity training therapy Centre front street Stanley confirmed this by sharing her experience of anti social behavior.  She said, ' The shop window has been smashed and will cost £1000 to replace. This has influenced her to relocate her shop. In her opinion, anti-social behavior could be tackled by educating parents and not labeling children as criminals which may affect them later in life.

We spoke to another shop owner from local store Price busters. They regularly have thieves however they tackle this themselves as they no longer report this to the police because they have lost faith in the system. Recently they have been broken into through their roof the culprits were caught but not prosecuted and the damage costs of £2500 have fallen on the shop. They also have their bins tipped over, encouraging rats and most recently they have had fire damage and their bins have been set alight.
