As a warm sunny morning breaks out over ERITH PARK a Kestrel hovers over the remains of the old LARNER ROAD I watch whilst listening to the lark ascending by Vaughan Williams a beautiful classical piece dominated by Violins as i continue to watch the Kestrel swoop I close my eyes and remmeber the old LARNER ROAD the times of fun on the old estate from the parties the quizzes the pamper evenings right down to the TOUR DE FRANCE coming through the estate a few years ago.
I breathe the air ahhhh a sweet air I open my eyes and the Kestrel continues its magical dance the Hi-Fi continues to play the beautiful serene tranquil tune.
The scene changes as the hustle and bustle of the workmen in there yellow coats hardhats and safety boots and another day of work has begun, A day of watching the diggers and nibblers in action. The nibblers munching away at the buildings like a DINOSAUR eating its prey moving majestically to the music,
above the music you hear the clank of the machinery clank clank clank playing in rythum to the music….alas the Kestrel is gone….flew off into the distance towards Erith marshes.
As work continues i breathe a sigh of relief not long now till the new builds dominate theERITH PARK SKYLINE not monsterous tower blocks of old but new,small,petite beautiful clean buildings I imagine life on the new park more parties youth clubs coffee mornings computer clubs amongst other things and a lovely nature park…I can hear children playing people chatting in our new neighbourhood.
The old girl is no more out with the old in with the new i say….only 4 blocks remain now…the only sign of a ghostly long gone estate LONG LIVE ERITH PARK.
