New Barracks Office Manager Julie with THE AWARD!

Power of communities that have made a quality decision to make a difference in their area is truly remarkable. One of the greatest examples of that is definitely New

Barracks Tenant Management Cooperative Ltd. based in Ordsall.

Not blowing their own trumpets, local residents have been managing their own houses for 23 years! When Ordsall was not the most desirable area to live in and people were moving out of the area, a group of

determined community activists decided to make a sea change in the area. Having asked Salford City Council for the permission to manage their own houses, they have turned the situation around, creating a new

culture, where people live in a community that cares about their area, their streets, their houses and their families' future.

New Barracks Tenant management Cooperative now manages 117 properties and manages them so well that not so long ago they have been awarded a British Kite

Mark for their Good Governance as a Tenant Management Organisation. What a recognition for Ordsall based cooperative! This award is the very first one in the North West.

It's about time for the local and national media to start placing articles about Ordsall on the front pages not only with crime reports, but also when local residents receive an extraordinary recognition for their achievements. It's high time for Ordsall to be placed on the political map of Salford and the nation in the light this remarkable community deserves.

Greater things are yet to come, greater things are yet to be done in this city!
