Local Group Wins £100

A community group from a deprived area of Norwich has won a £100 for their entry into the Lord Mayor’s Procession.  The Future Projects group spent several weeks making costumes and preparing their entry.  This was a truly inclusive group entry as the youngest member of the group was a mere 14 weeks old, the oldest 76 and included a disabled lady on her mobility scooter – which was made to look like a dragonfly.

There was a real party spirit within the group as they sung and danced their way through the streets of Norwich!  One lady on her mobility scooter fell asleep halfway through however she was woken by the group leader and managed to finish the parade.

Future Projects is a community-based charity located in the West of Norwich; an area marked by significant disadvantage in learning, skills, employment, health and crime indicators.

Future Projects is increasingly becoming a driving force for social change in the area and now delivers a wide range of programs across Norwich and the wider area.

Many members of the group are vulnerable and need support with many aspects of daily living, which they receive through their engagement with Future Projects.

All the participants were overjoyed when the result was announced later on that evening in front of City Hall just before the fireworks.  They collectively decided to spend their winning on a picnic for the whole community, which will be held at the local recreation ground.
