So I interviewed someone who gave me some information on where the people in my local area gets their information and local news from. We talked about what this does for the community, and how it benefits them. Here are the questions I asked and the answers I got...
Do you know anybody in our local area who has had a good impact on it?
Yes, although they want to remain anonymous.
Okay, what have they done or what do they still do?
They are the administrator of a page providing the latest news, traffic news, and any other information about safety and events in the local area. They manage the page and update it with new posts multiple times daily.
What impact does this have on people?
It makes people be more careful and aware of their surroundings, and also from informing them about security and safety, they are smarter with their belongings, such as handbags, house security, etc. The page also recognizes the good in the community, as well as reporting the not so good.
Has it had an effect on you personally?
It has always kept me more aware of my actions and surroundings, and keeps me well informed on what's happening around me.
Has it helped you in any specific situations?
Not really. It's more about the awareness and how to prevent bad situations and keep yourself safe. I guess if you were to get involved in a bad situation though, there could be some info on the page about how to deal with it best too.
Whoever they are, they surely are great. Something like this page is exactly what every area needs to help keep everybody safer.
