I have been a member of St Paul's Church Choir for nearly two years.

The work on better access for disabled people is due to start soon with making the surrounding paths of the church level for both wheelchairs and walkers. The church has applied to the diocese for a faculty(a grant) to complete this work.

At present due to the steps I robe in the clergy vestry and then I can make my way into the choir stalls.

Inside the church there are two large steps up into the choir stalls and at present there are no handles or ramps for me to use. The rector of the church has applied to the diocese for a ramp to be built which should be given the go ahead fairly soon.

Before I moved to this area I lived with my elderly parents in Knott End near Blackpool.

My Dad developed a growth in his throat which was cancerous and he sadly passed away in Trinity Hospice Bispham

My sister lives in the Walkden area and I was staying with her when my dad passed away.

The first Sunday after losing my dad I went to church it was like coming home I felt at peace with myself and it helped me cope
