For the past few months, I have been working on a Community Reporter project finding out all the activities that people with a disability can get involved with in Walkden and East Salford. Over the next few weeks, I will be posting my results.

Swinton and Worsley Gateway Club

~~The local branch is based in Swinton and Pendlebury and was established on 17th October 1952. The branch was set up as a support to parents who have children with learning disabilities. The organisations philosophy is to support the unique rights of each individual to live their lives with a choice.

The organisation challenges the public attitudes and encourages more understanding of people with disabilities.

Swinton and Worsley Gateway Club encourage local people with a learning difficulty to take part in an extremely diverse range of sporting events such as swimming, football and crown green bowls are just a few.

The gateway organise other activities such as trips to the theatre, cinema, and museums.  They help organise holidays in the U.K. and abroad.
